The
52nd G7 Summit was held in Évian-les-Bains, France, under the presidency
of France. The theme of the G7 Summit
2026, "Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity,”
emphasizes the need for renewed multilateralism, stronger international
cooperation, and collective efforts to tackle global challenges in an
increasingly interconnected and multipolar world.
India's Key Priorities at the G7 Dialogue

Building Trust as the Foundation of Global Cooperation
India called for greater transparency,
credibility, and international cooperation to collectively address shared
global challenges.

Promoting an Equitable Development Framework
It highlighted the importance of
collaboration founded on equality, mutual respect, and shared ownership of
development outcomes.

Advancing the Aspirations of the Global South
India reaffirmed the demand of developing
and middle-income countries for a greater role in international decision-making
processes.

Strengthening South–South Cooperation through the India–Africa Partnership
The partnership focuses on capacity
building, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, digital
connectivity, and skill enhancement.

Advocating Inclusive and Sustainable Global Governance
India emphasized the need for countries
to work together to address global challenges and ensure fair representation
for both developed and developing nations.
India's Bilateral Diplomacy

India – Canada
1.
Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the goal of
finalising the pact by the end of 2026 and doubling bilateral trade by 2030.

Both countries decided to initiate negotiations on a
General Security of Information Agreement (GSOIA) to strengthen cooperation
in defence, intelligence sharing, and strategic security matters.

The launch of Raisina Americas, a new geopolitical
dialogue platform aimed at enhancing policy discussions and promoting Track 1.5
diplomatic engagement between governments and experts.

India extended its support for Canada's bid to become a Dialogue
Partner of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
