News: Global DPI Summit successfully organized over last two days

 

What is in the news?

       Recently, The Global DPI Summit, as the side event of the third meeting of G20 Digital Economy Working Group, was successfully organized.

 

Key takeaways from the news?

       India signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four countries namely Armenia, Sierra Leone, Suriname and Antigua and Barbuda on sharing INDIA STACK i.e. successful digital solutions implemented at population scale.

       India has also introduced the idea to form an alliance of countries, called One Future Alliance, which would allow like-minded nations to use technology to improve people’s lives.

 

Highlights of the Global DPI summit:

       India signed an MoU with Armenia, Sierra Leone, Suriname and Antigua and Barbuda on sharing INDIA STACK.

       It mainly focused on digital identities and the session praised India’s Aadhar and Philippines’s Philsys.

       The session explored the role of DPI in facilitating fast and inclusive digital payments.

       The session also discussed the possible implementation of DPI in the judicial system and felicitated some examples like e- courts.

       Draft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Mutual Recognition Framework has been released by the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India with an aim to take the lead on the subject of implementation and adoption of India's DPI beyond the country's borders.

 

What is digital public infrastructure?

       DPI refers to blocks or platforms such as digital identification, payment infrastructure and data exchange solutions that help countries deliver essential services to their people, empowering citizens and improving lives by enabling digital inclusion.
