News: Conference on Consumer-Centric Approaches for E-cooking Transition

 

What is in the news?

       To commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding and to observe World Environment Day, The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the Collaborative Labeling and Appliance Standards Program (CLASP), an international non-governmental organization organized a "Conference on Consumer-Centric Approaches for E-cooking Transition" in New Delhi.

 

Key takeaways from the conference:

       BEE said that once all the people have electricity access, then by 2030 e- cooking facilities can be given to all the households by the Government.

       The focus on electric cooking is based on the recognition that e-cooking is a key pathway to Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), an India-led global mass movement to nudge individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment.

 

Bureau of Energy Efficiency:

About:

       It was set up under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 in 2002.

 

Mission:

       To assist in developing policies and strategies with a thrust on self-regulation and market principles, within the overall framework of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 with the primary objective of reducing energy intensity of the Indian economy.

World Environment Day:

About:

       World Environment Day on June 5 is celebrated to mark a day to raise awareness and action about the environmental catastrophes of the modern world.
