expanse of mudflats in the estuary of the Kadalundi Puzha river has reduced to
just about 1 hectare.

Kadalundi:

Kadalundi Mudflats are situated in the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, which is
located in the Kozhikode district of Kerala,
along the southwestern coast of India. The sanctuary encompasses estuarine
wetlands, mudflats and mangrove forests.

The mudflats are part of the estuarine
ecosystem formed at the confluence of
the Kadalundi River and the Arabian Sea.
●
This unique environment is influenced by
both freshwater from the river and saline water from the sea, creating a
diverse habitat.
