Current relevance:
The Ministry of Cooperation aims to strengthen India's cooperative sector through the vision of "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cooperation).
Highlights:
1. The cooperative movement is based on the philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" ("The World is One Family") and promotes shared ownership, democratic management, mutual assistance and inclusive socio-economic development.
2.
Cooperatives play a vital role in sectors such as: Agricultural credit,
Dairy, Fisheries, Housing, Marketing, Rural livelihoods.
3.
Major Initiatives:
i.
Transformation of 50,000 PACS into e-PACS:
·
PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies)
are the lowest
tier of the Short-Term Cooperative Credit Structure (STCCS). They provide:
Short-term agricultural credit, Farm inputs, Fertilizers and seeds, other rural
financial services.
·
e-PACS aims to
digitize operations, improve transparency, efficiency and service delivery.
ii.
Grain Storage Infrastructure
·
Foundation stones laid for 47 cooperative grain storage godowns.
·
Objective:
o
Strengthen decentralized storage
capacity.
o
Reduce post-harvest losses.
o
Improve food security and farmer
incomes.
iii.
Milk Supply Review Dashboard Portal
·
Launched for the National Dairy
Development Board (NDDB).
·
Purpose: Monitor milk procurement and distribution, Improve
supply chain management, Support data-driven decision-making.
iv.
National Urban Cooperative Finance and
Development Corporation (NUCFDC) Initiatives:
·
Sahakar CBS
Core Banking
Solution(CBS), centralized digital
banking platform for Urban
Cooperative Banks (UCBs). Enables standardized, secure and efficient banking operations.
·
Sahakar Sahyogi
A Conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI)
platform which Improves customer service,
grievance redressal and banking operations.
