       ISRO successfully conducted the first ground test of the Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE).

 


Highlights:

SOLVE: An Overview
1.      Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE) is a solid motor based test platform developed by ISRO.
2.      It is designed to conduct Integrated Parachute Tests for validating the crew module's deceleration system under different mission conditions.
3.      The platform provides flexibility for testing critical systems before the actual Gaganyaan mission.
4.      Technology:
                    i.            The SOLVE solid motor is derived from the PSLV Strap-on Motor with modifications.
                  ii.            Features slow burn-rate propellant and a straight nozzle with Secondary Injection Thrust Vector Control (SITVC) to meet Gaganyaan mission requirements.
Gaganyaan Mission:
1.      It is India's first indigenous human spaceflight mission, developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
2.      Aim: To send Indian astronauts (Gaganyatris) into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) for a short-duration mission and safely return them to Earth.
3.      Demonstrates India's capability to independently develop and execute human spaceflight technology, including crew launch, orbital operations, and the safe recovery of astronauts.
4.      Gaganyaan Mission Readiness Tests:
                    i.            First Ground Test of SOLVE.
                  ii.            Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-02)- Tests the parachute system of the Gaganyaan crew module for a safe landing.
                iii.            Mission MITRA (Mapping of Interoperable Traits and Response Assessment) conducted in Leh to assess astronaut performance under challenging conditions.
