 'VIJAY' Road Map: Vision for a Future-Ready Indian Army

Current relevance:

        General Dhiraj Seth, the 31st Chief of the Army Staff, unveiled the 'VIJAY' Road Map, outlining his vision to transform the Indian Army into a technology-enabled, future-ready, and multi-domain force, aligned with the Decade of Transformation.

 

 


Highlights:

The 'VIJAY' Road Map presents the Indian Army's strategic vision to build a technology-enabled, future-ready, and combat-capable force capable of addressing evolving security challenges.

Objective:

To transform the Indian Army into a modern, agile, technology-driven, and integrated combat force aligned with India's long-term national security goals.

Pillars of the 'VIJAY' Road Map:

i.            V – Vigilance

Focuses on maintaining high operational readiness and continuous vigilance along India's borders.

ii.            I – Innovation and Transformation

Promotes modern military doctrines, advanced technologies, and capability development to adapt to the changing nature of warfare.

iii.            J – Jointness and Integration

Strengthens coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force, while promoting military-civil fusion through a Whole-of-Nation approach.

iv.            A – Atmanirbharta

Reinforces the Army's commitment to indigenous defence technologies and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

v.            Y – Yodha First

Places the soldier at the centre of military transformation by prioritising training, technological skills, welfare, and support for veterans and Veer Naris.

Significance:

1.         It accelerates the modernisation of the Indian Army by enhancing its preparedness for technology-driven and multi-domain warfare.

2.       It promotes Atmanirbhar Bharat in the defence sector through greater adoption of indigenous technologies and stronger military capabilities.

3.       The initiative strengthens jointness among the armed forces while contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through enhanced national security.
