News: Israel says Arrow-3 missile-killer sale to Germany approved by U.S.

 

What's in the news?

       The United States approved a $3.5 billion sale of Israel's Arrow-3 missile defence system to Germany, in what will be Israel's biggest-ever defence deal, the Israeli Defence Ministry said.

 

Arrow 3:

       The Arrow 3 is currently Israel’s most advanced long-range missile defence system, meant to intercept ballistic missiles while they are still outside of the Earth’s atmosphere, taking out projectiles and their nuclear, biological, chemical or conventional warheads closer to their launch sites, from a distance of up to 2,400 kilometers (1,490 miles).

       It is also known as Hetz 3 is an exoatmospheric interception method that includes a two-stage interceptor, like the Arrow 2, but purely based on hit-to-kill technology.
