The
Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has launched the E-Commerce
Council of India (ECCI), the country's first national platform to unify
India's $120 billion digital commerce ecosystem.
Highlights:
1.
ECCI is a national industry
platform established to strengthen India's digital commerce ecosystem through
stakeholder collaboration, policy engagement, research, and the promotion of
best practices.
2.
Launched by: Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
3.
Objective: Serve as a common platform for policy advocacy,
industry research, best practices, and stakeholder consultation in the digital
commerce sector.
4.
Stakeholders: Policymakers, e-commerce marketplaces, retailers,
brands, logistics providers, payment solution providers, technology companies,
startups, MSMEs, exporters, industry experts, and academic institutions.
5.
Coverage: Represents the broader digital commerce ecosystem,
including online marketplaces, digital payments, logistics and supply chains, mobility
services, travel-tech, Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brands, cross-border
e-commerce, and AI-enabled commerce.
6.
Industry Participation: Expected to bring
together major companies such as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Swiggy,
IndiaMART, MakeMyTrip, Ixigo, Uber, Rapido, Shiprocket, eBay, Tata 1mg, and
others.

and regulatory issues.

Encourages industry–government collaboration
for balanced and innovation-friendly regulations.

digital commerce sector has expanded beyond online retail to become a
key driver of economic growth, encompassing services, logistics, digital
payments, mobility, and AI-driven platforms.
