The Union
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) launched the FCRA 2.0 Portal and the e-OCI
Card to strengthen digital governance.
FCRA 2.0 Portal:
1.
It has been launched to simplify compliance under the
Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA) and strengthen
monitoring and enforcement of foreign contributions.
2.
It provides end-to-end digital processing for
registration, prior permission, renewals, annual return filing, and compliance
monitoring under the FCRA framework.
3.
Integrates Aadhaar-based authentication, e-Sign, OCR
(Optical Character Recognition), and NGO Darpan.
4.
Benefits: The portal reduces paperwork and
processing time while enabling real-time monitoring of foreign contributions,
thereby improving transparency, compliance, accountability, and national
security.
e-OCI Card:
1.
It is the digital version of the Overseas Citizen
of India (OCI) Card.
2.
Enables complete online application, document upload,
approval, and digital card download.
3.
Eliminates the need to reissue the OCI booklet
after obtaining a new passport beyond the age of 20 years.
4.
Assigns a unique registration number to every OCI
cardholder.
5.
Benefits: It enhances convenience for over 50
lakh OCI cardholders by enabling smoother immigration through
digital verification while improving identity verification, data management,
and fraud prevention.
