Order of the White Double Cross, First Class

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was
conferred Slovakia's highest state honour, the Order of the White Double
Cross, First Class, by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini in
Bratislava on 15 June 2026. It is the 33rd international honour received by PM
Modi from a foreign nation.
Key Highlights

Order
of the White Double Cross
is the highest civilian and military state decoration of Slovakia.
2.
Awarded
primarily to foreign citizens for exceptional contributions to
Slovakia's foreign relations and international cooperation.
3.
First
Class is the
highest grade of the award.
4.
PM
Modi dedicated the honour to the 1.4 billion people of India and the
enduring friendship between India and Slovakia.
5.
During
the visit, India and Slovakia elevated bilateral ties to a Comprehensive
Partnership.
6.
Both
countries concluded 11 agreements covering migration, digital
technology, defence cooperation and other sectors.
7.
The
visit marked the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since
Slovak independence.
8.
India
established diplomatic relations with Slovakia after the dissolution of
Czechoslovakia in 1993.
