News: Startup Ranking 2022: Karnataka, TN, Kerala best performers

 

What's in the news?

       Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu lead the State Startup Ranking 2022 as Best Performers, the top category in the ranking.

       The ranking was released by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

 

Key takeaways:

       Tamil Nadu has consistently improved its position from 2018, and Kerala also emerged as the Best Performer after being in the second best rank for three straight years.

       Karnataka has been in the top spot for a second consecutive year.

State Start-up Ranking:

       The States Start-up Ranking is a yearly capacity-building exercise created and released by DPIIT that evaluates all of India’s states and Union Territories on their efforts to build an ecosystem conducive to start-up growth.

       States’ Start-up Ranking was launched in February 2018 to achieve the vision of building a robust startup ecosystem in the country.

 

Objective: 

       To recognize and reward outstanding Startups with high potential for employment generation or wealth creation, demonstrating measurable social impact.

 

Released by - Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal trade (DPIIT) under the Commerce Ministry.
